Our Arctic! Russia defended the Northern Sea Route
The decision to introduce new rules by the Russian government for foreign warships navigating the Northern Sea Route was so overwhelming for our "friends" from the West that there was no clear response to it yet. There can be no doubt that it will be - and, moreover, as usual in such cases, when our country recalls its rights and declares its intentions to defend them, it is vicious and hysterical. One can argue - again accusations of "obstructing freedom of navigation" and the like will pour in again. Well, let them say ... The main thing is that they do not try to break the rules.
According to the new procedure for the passage of the NSR, which, we emphasize once again, applies only to warships, the states under whose flags they intend to cut through the harsh Arctic waters will be obliged to officially inform our country of their intentions in at least 45 days. And do not notify, but specifically indicate not only the names of their vessels and the dates for which they intend to hang out in view of our shores, but also the specific route and purpose of the voyage. However, this is not all - to get permission to go through our Arctic transport artery in the application submitted ahead of time, you will have to cover all the technical parameters of the vessel: from draft to the power plant, as well as the surname, name and rank of its captain.
And so, God forbid, “dear guests” do not get lost, each such vessel will have to be taken aboard a Russian pilot - and, again, not by desire, but in a strictly mandatory manner. And in the event of any emergency situations, Russians will also have to call for help, turning to the nearest port or to a naval base. By the way, it is not recommended that they arrange such situations themselves - the new rules say in black and white that foreign ships are obliged to observe all measures to protect the environment and not pollute it in any case. Well, we don’t like the “guests” shitting in our house ... Moreover, if, when considering an application for a military vessel claiming to be sailing in the Arctic, it will be recognized as unsuitable for such tasks - for technical reasons, or due to doubts about the level of crew training, the Northern Sea Route will be closed for him. We still did not have enough extra state of emergency - but with foreign warriors!
However, all these harsh requirements are far from the most important thing in the newly adopted document. You can demand, in principle, anything, but what will happen to those who ignore the rules? In this case, the most unpleasant things. Perhaps even tragic. Foreign warships that dare to climb the Northern Sea Route and follow it at their own risk and peril will be subjected to the most severe possible measures. They will simply be arrested, despite the nationality and “toughness” of the flag. Those who do not want to obey legal requirements will be stopped forcibly. In the most extreme case, especially arrogant violators will be put to the bottom. "Caliber" and "Zircons" enough for everyone ...
This all sounds threatening enough - but will the West believe in the seriousness of our intentions? Here, perhaps, it is worth saying a huge “thank you” to Ukraine. In the months that have passed since the so-called “Kerch incident”, she has already buzzed the ears of the whole world, painting with the most vivid colors the image of “merciless Russians who are ready to drown and seize other people's ships for nothing.” Kiev itself, asking for the introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions, fanned almost to the extent of Tsushima itself, a rather small border skirmish. Now all this, oddly enough, plays into Russia's hands. Once we have already shown - do not be rude, do not violate our borders, either on land, on water, or in the air. And it will be like with the Ukrainians. Having shown firmness and consistency both during the attempt to test our borders for strength and after it, Moscow gave reason to think to those who might take this attempt to repeat in their heads - only at a more serious level. Of course, American destroyers are not Ukrainian pelvis. Well, after all, border boats will not meet them in the Arctic!
In truth, the United States and its allies have long and arrogantly requested precisely such tightening of the rules of navigation along the Northern Sea Route. Who pulled the tongue of the US Navy Admiral James Foggo, who said that the Arctic Ocean is “not a Russian lake”, and therefore who will want to go there and how they want? Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, too, it seems, this issue has for some time begun to be overly worrying - it’s scary, painful, that Russia and China will “dominate” in the Arctic. And if they only thrashed their tongues ... It is much more unpleasant that the United States is already taking concrete steps to aggravate confrontation in northern waters.
The reconstruction of the Second Fleet of the US Navy, the extremely suspicious fuss of their warrior on the island of Adak off the coast of Alaska, is very similar to the arrangement of military bases. What can I say if statements are already being heard from Washington about "the operations of the US Navy to ensure freedom of navigation in the Arctic"! The British, as usual, are quickly “drawn up” by the British - and here the Minister of War of the United Kingdom begins to argue about the need to deploy new Poseidon anti-submarine aircraft to the North to “deter Russian activity”. It will soon come to the point that it is not us, but we will begin to set conditions - to whom and how to walk along the original Russian Northern Sea Route!
Now, most likely, it will not work. The actions taken by the authorities of the country are as timely as possible and adequate to the situation taking shape around the Arctic, its untold wealth and strategic sea lanes. We don’t need an alien - but we won’t give it back, as if someone didn’t want it!
