Relations between our country and India have always been special. This has been the case since the Soviet era, since Moscow then provided great support to the young Indian state.

“Hindi Russ Bhai, Bhai” - “Indians and Russians are brothers”! This slogan was known to every child in the 1950s and 1970s. Now the time is different, but the relationship between the two peoples political perturbations affected little. The Indians continue to respect and value Russia, to be sympathetic to the Russian people. What is the secret of the special attitude of representatives of one of the most ancient civilizations of the world to us?

To begin with, in due time the Soviet Union made a considerable contribution to ensuring India achieve political sovereignty. The USSR always supported the Indian independence movement, and then provided comprehensive assistance to already sovereign India.

Good in the East do not forget. Moreover, communist ideas are still very popular in India, and Russia is perceived as a continuation of the Soviet Union - the first country in the world where communism became a state ideology.

Russia is a world-class power and this is well known in India. In addition, Russia is India’s most important arms trade partner. Until today, India remains the largest buyer of Russian weapons. After all, the country is constantly strengthening the army, aviation and navy.

The presence of dangerous neighbors in the person of Pakistan and China, relations with which are not so simple, is forcing the Indian leadership to be very attentive to relations with Russia. Representatives of the Indian authorities never tire of emphasizing that Russia is India's main and most reliable partner.

Our planes are in service with the Indian Air Force, Russia helps India build its own nuclear carrier. Countries even participate in joint military exercises, especially since there are so many intersection points. For example, India, like Russia, has been fighting a long fight against terrorism.

But this is all politics. But the simplest Indians also have warm feelings for Russia. And it is explained quite simply. Russian mentality is much closer to the Indians than the same British, although the latter have been in contact with India for centuries, when it was a British colony.

Russians are deprived of European snobbery and arrogance, friendly relations between Indians and Russians are easier. In recent decades, the number of mixed marriages has been growing.

Many Indians studied in Russia or the Soviet Union. After living in our country for five years, they fell in love with her forever and this love spread, of course, to Russian people.

A large number of Russian tourists come to India. Some Russians remain in the same hospitable Goa for many years, open their own business, often together with local residents. Now in India it is not a problem to find not only a Russian cafe, but also a medical clinic, where staff will speak Russian.

The Indian Chandra himself studied in Russia many years ago. He returned home long ago, but still admires the Russian people. According to Chandra, Russians are kind, smart and beautiful.

I have been to many places - in the UK, in Australia, in the States. But nowhere have I met such beautiful people. I'm just in love with Russia

- shares his impressions of Chandra.

He admits that Russian culture is very popular in India. In Russia, by the way, they are less familiar with Indian literature than in India with Russian, but who does not remember Indian films, which were very popular in Soviet times?

The cultural ties between the two nations are becoming ever deeper. And there are reasons for this too. After all, Russians and Indians are brothers not only in words, but also by blood. The Indo-Aryan population of North India has common ancestors with the Slavs, as evidenced by the numerous intersections in the language, especially when we compare Sanskrit with Old Slavic.
