Anglo-Saxons form a united front against Russia
The performance in the theater of the absurd continues: British Prime Minister Teresa May is no longer satisfied that 23 Russian diplomats were expelled from her country. She wishes that all countries of the European Union follow this example.
According to influential publications of Bloomberg and The Guardian, she intends to raise this issue at the two-day summit of EU leaders in Brussels, which opened today. At the same time, Ms. May, according to sources of the above-mentioned publications, wants to convince her European colleagues that Russia is not an ally, but a strategic adversary of Europe, which poses a threat to the security of all EU countries. Most likely, these issues will be raised during a business dinner.
May told reporters the following:
Indeed, it would seem that a number of European countries have already shown solidarity with London and stood in the shameful line of Russian haters. So far, things have not come to the expulsion of diplomats, other than Britain, but Poland has already suggested that such a development is possible. Germany demanded that Russia prove its innocence. Some of the EU members limited themselves to calling Russian diplomatic representatives at the Foreign Ministry.
Some EU members have a much more sober stance. In particular, the Greek authorities asked official London to provide evidence of Russia's guilt in the poisoning of Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia. Austria suggested waiting for the results of the investigation of this high-profile case.
Theresa May’s position is largely shared by the EU High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and policy Security Federica Mogherini. Arriving at the opening EU summit, she said:
True, according to these words, Mogherini cannot yet be said whether this “unity” will be declarative, expressed in a joint statement, or there really will be more countries that will send Russian diplomats after London and thereby go to aggravate relations with Russia.
At least, Russian deputy Alexander Yushchenko on Sputnik radio noted that not all EU countries have the same attitude to the Russian Federation:
The British authorities have already managed in this short time to spoil relations with Russia. Moreover, the degree of hostility continues to grow. Now London wants other countries of the European Union to follow up on it. Very soon, we will find out whether the EU countries will decide for the sake of dubious "unity" and false "solidarity" with London to take such serious steps that will hit them with a boomerang.

May told reporters the following:
I will speak today not only about what happened on the streets of Salisbury, but also about the Russian model of behavior, which consists in aggressive actions against Europe and its closest neighbors .... I look forward to further discussions with my European colleagues. I thank them for the solidarity they have expressed to the United Kingdom

The strongest political signal that the EU countries can offer to London through Salisbury is unity

The European Union is not uniform in relation to Russia. There are self-sufficient countries that speak of the fallacy of sanctions against Russia. But there are satellite countries that do not have their own personal position, and will do as the curators order them
