Russia has closed the Ukrainian border: Kiev reports a collapse
In the Ukrainian media there were reports of a terrible collapse that hit checkpoints on the border of Ukraine with Russia. Trucks from Ukraine cannot pass checkpoints. And the cause of this situation, according to Ukrainian journalists, is the actions of the Russian authorities.
Ukrainian version
If you believe the publications in the Ukrainian press, the Russian authorities decided to restrict the passage of transit goods traveling through the territory of the Russian Federation to third countries. This caused a large accumulation of trucks following from Kharkov and Sumy regions. At the Goptovka checkpoint in the Kharkov region, 45 trucks stood in line. And the tail of the wagons gathered at the Ekaterinovka PP in the Sumy region totals 35 cars.
The source of information on limiting the passage of Ukrainian transit cargo is the Border Service of Ukraine.
The State Border Service also noted that in Russia they explain this situation by a programmatic failure of Russian customs officers at sites in the Belgorod and Voronezh regions bordering the Lugansk, Kharkov and Sumy regions of Ukraine.
In this regard, Ukrainian border guards recommend that carriers refuse to cross the Ukrainian-Russian border at these sites.
A look from Russia
According to the Central Customs Administration of the Russian Federation (customs service), all border checkpoints operate normally, Ukrainian cars are passed through as usual. There are no special queues or delays, and the software is in good condition.
In this situation, there is nothing unusual. Of course, there are queues at the border. It has always been, is and will be. It’s hard for me to judge if 35 cars are in line - is it a lot or a little? And were there 35 cars or 5?
Moreover, such a commotion around the situation on the border does not rise for the first time.
In February, the Ukrainian Border Service reported that at the Russian checkpoint in the Belgorod region, equipment for searches was broken, which caused a line of one hundred trucks to form on the Ukrainian side.
On March 4, 250 trucks were accumulated at the place where the Kiev-Moscow highway crosses the border. It turned out that the Ukrainian side stopped the passage of cars due to heavy snowfall.
So 35 trucks standing in line at the border, you will not surprise us. And why was all this noise raised by Ukrainian border guards? I do not know.
As Nikolai Drozdov said in the TV show “In the Animal World”: “What a funny, cute creature! Let's just watch them. ”
