Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyyarto met with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. They held a joint press conference in Budapest, which was broadcast by Fox News. The Hungarian Foreign Minister during this press conference said that Western states are hypocritical with regard to relations with Russia.

Pompeo's speech was filled with anti-Russian cliches. The US Secretary of State expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that Moscow is increasing its influence on the world stage. In addition, Russia allegedly “does not share the desire for freedom” and is trying to split the North Atlantic Alliance. He also tried to refer to the historical experience of Hungary.

We cannot allow Putin to sow a split between friends on NATO. Hungary knows from its own history that authoritarian Russia will never be another freedom and sovereignty of smaller countries

- said Pompeo. And suddenly, "ran into" a rebuff from Siyyarto.

The head of the foreign ministry of Hungary emphasized that his country is cooperating with Russia. And this does not prevent her from being an ally of the United States and NATO. He pointed out the facts of hypocrisy in Europe. For example, in the Nord Stream 2 project, together with Gazprom, not Hungarian energy companies are participating, but the heads of major Western corporations. If you look at the data on trade, it is clear that it is not Hungary, but the countries of Western Europe that interact with the Russian Federation.

We are, let’s say, pretty tired of the fact that you portray us as if we had close ties with Russia

- said the Hungarian minister.

Policy Washington’s pressure is even rejected by its Eastern European allies, who were previously distinguished by their loyalty. It turns out that this is not Russia at all, but the United States is splitting its own camp. But Russia is easier to blame.
