The latest fifth-generation KAMAZ goes into a series
It seems that all the main work of the Kama Automobile Plant in preparing for serial production of the latest fifth-generation truck model is approaching its logical conclusion. According to information published on the Vesti KAMAZ portal, the KAMAZ-54901 tractor concept was sent for acceptance. The source emphasized that before the car was transferred to the Scientifictechnical test center, he has already managed to undergo a preliminary “run-in” immediately after assembly.
It is worth noting that the cab of the new tractor will only have a frame from the Mercedes-Benz Actros. And he will be made of his own Kama blanks at the production built in Naberezhnye Chelny, which today is considered one of the most modern in the world. Frames and bridges will be assembled here.
The size of the cabin is 1,98x2,27m. Two berths will be equipped with additional compartments for things. The pneumatic seat will receive a wide range of adjustments, and all controls will be available at arm's length. On the dashboard, as in the “spalks”, an on-board control system is installed in the form of a 10-inch touch screen.
The new truck will receive a 12-liter P6 engine of the Russian-Swiss development with power from 380 to 550 hp. and a resource of 1,5 million km. In addition, the automated gearbox from the German company ZF Traxon is controlled by a joystick, which allows you to remove the lever and make the cab floor level.
As it became known, the new 5th generation KAMAZ will be localized at 80-85%, and its price will be 15-20% lower than that of the Mercedes-Benz Actros. In the future, the manufacturer plans to increase the percentage of localization.
