Russian habits that fell in love with an Italian in Russia

Even in high school, the Italian Fiorella became interested in Russia and Russian culture, and then decided to turn interest in our country into her specialty. She began to professionally study Russian language and literature at the university, and then came to Russia.

It seemed once cold and inhospitable, Russia pleasantly struck Fayorella. She was imbued with true love for Russian people, Russian life, and even learned many Russian habits that now accompany her life in her native Italy. Moreover, Fayorella believes that these habits would not hurt to adopt her compatriots, as they are useful and entertaining.

The first habit that a girl learned in Russia is to drink tea. Italy, like most other Mediterranean countries, is a country of coffee. Tea is not accepted among Italians. There are some lovers, but not in such numbers as in our country.

Previously, Fayorella did not understand how to drink tea, not just cups, but teapots throughout the day. Now she herself was addicted to a hot drink. Therefore, Fayorella, returning from Moscow to Italy, acquired a teapot and a set of tea cups. And she was even able to get a couple of friends at a tea party.

Fioorella also seemed very useful and necessary to the other everyday habit of Russians, to which we ourselves do not pay attention at all - to take off shoes in the house. In European countries, houses walk in street shoes, but in Russia such behavior will immediately cause outrage. After all, houses go around in shoes except during large-scale repairs. Now, Fayorella prefers to take off her boots or shoes and change shoes at home in cozy soft slippers.

But now I’m always clean. And slippers are great shoes. I don’t understand how I could walk around the house in street shoes before,

- the girl tells.

Giving flowers and gifts is the third wonderful Russian habit. In Italy, it is not customary to give flowers constantly. With all the romanticism of Italians, flowers are given to their wives or girls in exceptional cases. In Russia, flowers - at every turn. Even the most uneducated and uncultured resident of our country has the “blood” of understanding that a woman needs to give flowers.

The same thing is with gifts for the holidays. In Italy, a birthday can be declared empty-handed and this is not considered reprehensible. In Russia, even if there is no imagination, they will present at least a banknote. Going without a birthday present is the worst way you can imagine.

Now Fiorella is trying to teach her family and friends to give each other presents. This tradition seems amazing to our heroine. After all, she emphasizes that a loved one is so dear to you that you need to give something to him as a sign of the value of friendship or family relations.

There is the first - another tradition that the Italian really liked. Now she does not feel full if she does not start dinner with a plate of hot soup. In Russia, Fayorella managed to get used to borscht too, but in Italy it is not so easy to find those who are able to cook this Russian dish deliciously.

In Italy, it is not customary to store old things. Moreover, on New Year's Day, Italians throw various rubbish out of windows - old clothes, dishes and even furniture.

In Russia, a different attitude to things. In the pantries, basements, garages, Russian families store a variety of items. A Russian person is economic by nature and knows that in some situation, any old thing may turn out to be irreplaceable. Now, Fayorella began to look at old things differently, which surprised her relatives.

I came from Russia by a different person. This is an amazing country and I want to visit it again and again. In the meantime, I’m making a little corner of Russia here, at home. As you can see, I’m even trying to live like a Russian,

- laughs Fiorella.
