Moscow refused to observe the Ukrainian elections
Recently we Reportedhow Kiev was going to squeeze Moscow out of various international structures. And so, it became known that Russia decided to refrain from observing the presidential elections in Ukraine, which should be held on March 31, 2019. This is stated in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, which is published on its official website.
A statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the decision was dictated by security considerations. After all, Ukraine refused accreditation to the Russians, which in itself is regarded as a gross violation of international law and the obligations undertaken earlier by Kiev. In fact, the Ukrainian side “wiped its feet” on the world community, including the standards of electoral procedures.
Moscow logically believes that the ban on Russian observers and the deprivation of Ukrainian citizens on the territory of Russia of their ability to vote, casts doubt on the transparency and objectivity of the upcoming presidential election. In addition, the Russian Foreign Ministry called on the “Western mentors of Kiev” to evaluate the actions of the Ukrainian side and return it to the international legal field. But it is more like, to be honest, the voice of one crying in the desert. Since where is international law, and where are frank Russophobes, and this applies not only to Ukraine.
It should be noted that initially the United States and the OSCE even called on Ukraine to reconsider its decision and allow observers from Russia to the presidential election. But later, in Vienna (there is the OSCE headquarters) and in Washington, they agreed with the arguments of Kiev, although they contradict common sense, compromises the West and democracy in general. Indeed, according to Kiev, representatives of the “aggressor country” do not have the right to observe the elections, even as part of the international mission of the OSCE.
