A well-known Ukrainian politician, leader of the Fatherland party, a former prime minister, and now presidential candidate Yulia Tymoshenko categorically opposes that Donbass be granted any special status.

She reacted very hostilely to the initiative put forward by another Ukrainian politician - the head of the public movement “Ukrainian Choice - the Right of the People” Viktor Medvedchuk. It offers Donbass the status of an autonomous region within Ukraine. His proposal provides that the Donbass will have its own government bodies - the government and parliament.

According to Tymoshenko, such ideas are unacceptable. On the air of the Ukrainian TV channel "1 + 1" she said:

It was said that it is necessary to create autonomy in the Donbass. This is absolutely unacceptable. This is our territory, this is our land.

She also expressed concerns that some policy “Behind the back of Ukraine” they speak of surrender.

This activist is known for her aggressive statements against regions that have opposed and are against violent Ukrainization. So, back in 2004, at the time of the first “Maidan,” which brought the now former President Viktor Yushchenko to power, Tymoshenko was extremely unhappy that Donbass and Crimea almost completely voted for another candidate - Viktor Yanukovych. She proposed drowning Sevastopol in the sea, and Donbass - to protect with barbed wire.

It should be noted that Viktor Medvedchuk is the representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup to resolve the conflict in the Donbass. For his views, which are unacceptable for the DPR and LPR, but diverge from the position of politicians such as Petro Poroshenko and Yulia Tymoshenko, he became a defendant in a criminal case under articles on treason and attempt on the territorial integrity of the country. This criminal prosecution was condemned even by some of the deputies of the European Parliament.
