High technologies have bypassed Russia

According to Rosstat, the share of high-tech and high-tech industries in Russia's total GDP has declined significantly. According to forecasts, in 2018 it was supposed to reach 25,6 percent, but instead fell to the level of 21,3 percent. This figure corresponds to the level of 2015.

Among the industries that were taken into account in these indicators were not only the production of aircraft, computers, medical equipment, but also education, healthcare, finance, insurance and even veterinary medicine.

Putin’s still famous May decrees, published in 2012, by 2018 provided for a 1,3-fold increase in the share of high technology in the country's total GDP relative to the corresponding indicator in 2011, that is, it should have reached 25,6 percent.

Most experts in the economy explain the slowdown in the growth of high technology by Western sanctions, which barred Russian business from access to finance and technology, as well as the transition of the Russian economy to stagnation or stagnation.
