Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro said the reaction to the invasion of American troops in the country will be harsh. He believes that war can be avoided if peaceful diplomacy is used.

The president of the Bolivarian Republic made such statements in an interview with the Russian television channel RT.

He also added that Venezuela is ready for any development. In the case of American intervention, the United States "will suffer irreparable losses in military and human terms."

Shortly before that, President of the United States Donald Trump announced the possible sending of a military contingent to Venezuela. In response, Nicolas Maduro categorically condemned the words of the American leader, calling them contrary to international legal standards and the UN Charter.

In an interview with the Russian television channel, Maduro made an appeal to the international community to stop Donald Trump's madness.

Although the United States and many countries of Europe and Latin America officially recognized the change of power in Caracas, recognizing the opposition leader Juan Guaido as the interim president of Venezuela, Russia, Mexico, Bolivia, Cuba, Turkey, China and some other states recognize the legitimacy of the country's leader Nicolas Maduro.
