The first hypersonic spacecraft will appear in Russia
Another good news came from the Russian space industry. Relatively recently it became known that Roscosmos intends to modernize the legendary Soyuz for flights to the moon, as well as to “revive” the Soviet heavy lunar rover. Now available to the agency RIA News the scheme of the reusable space drones developed by JSC "ISON" fell, the demo version of which is already actively being prepared for testing.
According to the statement of the Skolkovo Foundation, the device is equipped with its own engine, and the M-55 Geophysics carrier aircraft will be used for acceleration, which allows for multiple tests and increased flight performance. The components from which the drone will be assembled are made exclusively in the territory of the Russian Federation, therefore, the innovation will not fall into dependence on foreign manufacturers.
As for the characteristics of the drone, it will be able to reach speeds of up to 7 max and fly at an altitude of 160 km. In addition, it can be used to put other vehicles into orbit up to 500 km high. It is assumed that one such drone "withstand" up to 50 missions.
The first stage of development took place from 2015 to 2017 and required 55 million rubles of investments, 30 of which were allocated by the Skolkovo Fund. The second stage involves the creation of a ground-based complex, the manufacture of models and related documentation. The work is scheduled for the period from 2019 to 2021 and will require a budget of 280 million rubles. The third stage involves the manufacture of a full-time apparatus, carrier aircraft and all the necessary tests. It is planned for 2021 - 2023.
As for the purpose of the development, according to the designers, it will definitely not be used for percussion purposes. It also became known that some foreign companies have already become interested in the domestic hypersonic drone.
