Tricky games of Turkey: Moscow again, "will turn the other cheek"?
It seems that attempts to find at least some logic in the external policy Turkey has finally turned from a task simply difficult to absolutely impossible. Judge for yourselves - how long has Recep Erdogan called on Russia together to “fight against dollar hegemony”? It seems that yesterday the presidents of the two countries were optimistic about the prospects for economic cooperation during the launch of the first marine thread of the Turkish Stream. And how many talks were there about joint actions in Syria?
Until the next meeting of the leaders of Russia, Iran and Turkey, it was just a couple of weeks left on the Syrian issue ... And here Ankara throws out such a thing that Moscow just might not think about friendship and cooperation, but about further maintaining diplomatic relations with it! However, judge for yourself:
On February 1, the seventh meeting of the Turkish-Ukrainian Joint Strategic Planning Group was held in Ukrainian Odessa. Sounds good already, doesn't it ?! However, the most interesting is ahead. After the event, a very lengthy press conference was given, the “stars” of which were Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and his Ukrainian counterpart Pavel Klimkin. The statements made during her, in truth, raise more than serious doubts as to whether Russia should even deal with such a “partner” as Turkey.
First of all, Cavusoglu was noted by rather concrete and unambiguous anti-Russian statements. About the Crimea, of course. With regard to him, Russia, according to Ankara, you see, has committed an “annexation”, which is “strongly condemned” and “never recognized” there. The head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry emphasized once again that his country was “full of will to protect the Crimean Tatars” - without specifying from whom and by what means. And also - he confirmed that all Turkish companies "strictly adhere to the ban on access to the temporarily occupied Crimea." In principle, all these accusations of "annexation" and "occupation" against our country are already more than enough, however, further will be even more fun.
The representative of Ankara also told the audience that Turkey intends to "make every effort to free the Ukrainian sailors and ships captured by Russia in the Kerch Strait." The key word here, in my opinion, is “captured”. The question of which descendants of proud Janissaries generally have a connection to the "Kerch incident" and on what basis they are trying to get into it, we will modestly leave out of brackets. At the same time, according to Chavushoglu, Recep Erdogan “has repeatedly” sent “relevant requests” to Vladimir Putin. Well, well, at least not “requirements”! However, if things continue to go in the direction that was outlined in Odessa, then it seems that we do not have to wait long for ultimatums from Ankara.
The most intriguing statements, as expected, were made at the event by Pavel Klimkin. This figure, of course, was a note balabol, but it was too much in his words to be concrete. Very specific ... According to Klimkin, Ukraine and Turkey in the very near future expect not only the broadest prospects for "military-technical cooperation". Oh no! According to him, these two "powers" intend to create in no way less than the new "security system in the Black Sea"! Naturally - "in the closest contact and coordination with NATO member countries." So far, Ankara is determined to arm Kiev, prepare its warrior and conduct with him, as Klimkin mysteriously put it, some “joint real actions”. And also provide the Ukrainian army with “special assistance”.
On cooperation in this area, the Ukrainian minister was generally flooded with nightingale. According to him, the military-industrial complexes of the two countries expects "synergy". And the devil knows what this trepak meant in this case ... In any case, we are talking about "joint development" and other "serious help" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Ankara, which Klimkin estimated at "tens of millions of dollars." What could that mean? Well, obviously something is more significant and large-scale than the purchase by Ukraine at frantic prices of Turkish Bayraktar drones.
Very interesting, in the end, it turns out: Russian gas is good! Russian S-400 - generally fine! However, at the same time, the chief diplomat of the country, so fond of our energy sources and air defense systems in front of the whole world, declares her an "aggressor" and an "invader." And does not even blush at the same time. Does Ankara really understand who she is specifically planning to arm Kiev with “tens of millions of dollars” ?! Doesn’t realize that “just like that” on the Black Sea is “friendship” with Ukraine impossible - only against Russia? There are no other options and cannot be. And what kind of talk about "joint actions" of the armies and special services of the two countries? Again - against whom?
Everyone in Turkey understands perfectly. However, I am afraid that they pin their hopes on the usual patience and forgiveness of Moscow. Are these hopes true? Will we wait again until the moment of Turkish treachery is paid for by the lives of Russian soldiers? And then - “express indignation” and “beat the ruble”? It seems that Ankara was firmly convinced that relations with our country are perfectly permissible to build according to the formula: “if you don’t sin, you will not repent,” they allow themselves things that are completely unacceptable between countries that have, if not friendly, then at least partnership and good neighborly relations relations. Ankara unequivocally shifted from the simple desire to “sit on two chairs” to completely unambiguous hostile demarches against Russia, both diplomatic and military. We will wait for a new blow, reflecting on whether, according to the Scripture, to turn the other cheek or move in response? And, maybe, we’ll put it in place, while the cheeks are intact?
