The foreigner told why it is necessary to go through the army of the Russian Federation

The Russian army has always been multinational, but even for it a soldier - a Portuguese - is exotic. Therefore, when Private Manuel Pereira joined the ranks, his colleagues and commanders could not get used to the fact for a long time - next to them, shoulder to shoulder, was a guy who had lived relatively recently in sunny Portugal.

In fact, Manuel Pereira is not an ordinary Portuguese man. His mother, a simple woman from the Krasnodar Territory, married a Portuguese citizen in the mid-1990s. There, on the distant Iberian Peninsula, the future brave warrior of the Russian army was born.

At first, Manuel developed everything, like the other Portuguese boys. Parental love, school and, of course, football. But then the parents divorced. Manuel was almost sixteen when his mother returned with him to Russia.

Everything in Russia seemed unusual to the guy. But he quickly mastered - especially age. He learned the Russian language, and so, thanks to his mother, he spoke pretty well. When the time came to join the army, Manuel did not hesitate for a minute. For him, the “Russian Portuguese”, military service was another opportunity to get to know the country that had become a new home.

Manuel, a sports guy, was called up for active military service. He was to serve in one of the artillery units of the Southern Military District. Apparently, the military enlistment office had mercy on a native of Portugal and decided not to send him to too unusual climatic conditions.

During the year of service, Manuel mastered the military specialty. Relations with colleagues were built almost immediately.

The guys served me cool. There are many athletes, but the main thing is funny, simple. The Russians somehow remind me of the Portuguese. True, we are hotter, of course. We love to make noise, but we also love to work less,

- laughs Manuel.

Service in the Russian army, according to Manuel, helped him become a real man. Faithful friends, experienced commanders, the latest military technique - All this fascinated the young man. But the main thing is respect for the military craft.

When I was in school in Portugal, our boys and girls had a completely different attitude to military service. This topic is not particularly popular with us. And here I noticed that the soldiers are respected, they are proud of service in the army and remember it for many - many years,

- says our interlocutor.

The young man is sure that a guy who moves permanently to Russia from another country will be able to better understand his new homeland if he serves in the army, because you can visit different parts of Russia, meet people of different nationalities, understand their mentality.

Manuel parted with regret, although, like all soldiers, he was waiting for a "demobilization". Now, in the "citizen", he works in one of the Krasnodar cafes as a bartender-waiter. But such a job Manuel is not quite to his liking. And the “Russian Portuguese” more and more often wonders if he should join the army again, only by contract.
