Russian aluminum engine: where can it be used?

It seems that the designers from Novosibirsk are close to a real breakthrough in the aircraft industry. Engineers from NSTU the day before carried out the first tests of an all-aluminum engine for aircraft. The tests were successful.

Russian aluminum engine: where can it be used?

The innovation of the invention of Russian material scientists is that in their version of the engine all the parts are made of aluminum. In world practice, this metal is used only for the manufacture of the body. Due to the fact that this material does not have sufficient strength, all parts under high load were made exclusively of steel. However, engineers from Novosibirsk proposed creating spare parts through Technology plasma electrolytic oxidation, which ultimately gave the result.

The first experimental aircraft internal combustion engine made of aluminum has a V-shape and two power units with a capacity of 200 hp. each. B-91 aviation gasoline is used as fuel. According to Professor I. Zverkov, after hours of testing the unit under high load, micrometric measurements did not determine wear, which is really inspiring.

Now, if the development of NSTU gets into the series, the above engines can be used on such aircraft as the Yak-18T, Il-103 and Be-103. All parts will be produced directly in Novosibirsk, which will allow the Russian Federation to abandon foreign components.

    or regular promises?

    - Does he even have ... "analogues" in the world ...? -Hahah ...
    - It seems ...- everything will remain so ...- empty chores and worldly vanity ...
