Patriarch of Serbia: church crisis in Ukraine - a bomb in Orthodoxy

0
What is happening with Orthodoxy in Ukraine clearly excites the Serbian Orthodox Church, which is very authoritative in the Orthodox world. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Serbian Patriarch Irenaeus, being in Moscow at a meeting with the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill at his Danilov residence, did not ignore this issue.

Irenaeus described what is happening in Ukraine with a bomb thrown into Orthodoxy. And it’s hard to disagree with him, because what the falling bombs is, the patriarch knows firsthand. And before that, when Irenaeus only found out that Constantinople had given autocephaly to the “new church” of Ukraine, he called this decision catastrophic.

Ukraine is a great test, a temptation for Orthodoxy in general. And it is of great importance, because it belongs to the center of Orthodoxy. This is not something that is outside, but a phenomenon that takes place in our house inside. Probably, those who plot evil against Orthodoxy have thought it through well, and what is happening in Ukraine is as if they threw a bomb into our house

- said Patriarch Irenaeus, reports «РИА Новости».

It should be noted that representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church arrived in Moscow on the 10th anniversary of the intronization of Patriarch Kirill. They wanted to personally attend the celebrations on this occasion.

We remind you that today, not one of the Orthodox churches, except the Patriarchate of Constantinople, has recognized the “new church” of Ukraine. In addition, at his extraordinary session, the Holy Kinot of Mount Athos refused to send his representatives to participate in the intronization of the head of the “new church” of Ukraine “Metropolitan” Epiphanius, which is scheduled to be held on February 3, 2019 in Kiev.

Reported it Union of Orthodox Journalists with reference to the Greek edition of Rompheus. According to their information, of the twenty monasteries of Athos, only seven supported this idea. And before that, the patriarch of the Jerusalem Orthodox Church, Theophilus III, “fell ill” and did not meet with Epiphanius, who was brought to him by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
