Jaguar will “teach” unmanned vehicles to communicate with pedestrians

1
Autonomous transport, which does without a driver, is getting closer and closer to the auto industry every day. Manufacturers show their options for electric cars that overcome obstacles with filigree accuracy, share information about roads with each other and already know how to park on their own. However, if such a device perceives the objects surrounding it with the help of various sensors, then how do pedestrians understand the intentions of such an "independent" car?

Various companies have been dealing with this issue for a long time. Already even options with inscriptions on the windshield, light indicators and sound signals have already been offered. But Jaguar, apparently, turned out to be the closest to solving the problem. Its development is extremely simple and can be used anywhere in the world.

The essence of the means of communication between the car and the pedestrian proposed by the company is that light strips will be projected onto the asphalt. It is this indicator that will notify a person of the intentions of unmanned vehicles. For example, if the car is about to move off, the distance between the lines will increase, but if you slow down, then on the contrary it will decrease. When turning the strip will smoothly unfold in the direction of movement.

The advantage of this method is that it does not contain combinations of letters and numbers, which means it will become "recognizable" in any country in the world. According to the developers, this version of the system is a test one and will be further developed in the future. Fortunately, there is still time before mass production of autonomous vehicles.
