It would seem that today the Internet is something that is accessible to everyone and without which it is extremely difficult to do in everyday life. However, you will not believe it, but there are still inhabited corners on our planet where access to the global network is limited due to the peculiarities of the geographical location.

This is exactly the problem Facebook is trying to solve. The creator of the largest social network is already making its second attempt to implement its plan, the essence of which is to distribute the Internet through unmanned aerial vehicles.

According to information received from the German edition of NetzPolitik, the aforementioned Facebook project is trying to implement together with Airbus. Tests are conducted in Australia. Moreover, the first tests using the apparatus of the Zephyr class were planned at the end of 2018.

The version of the Model S drone that the Facebook leadership has chosen has a wingspan of 25 meters and is capable of flying at an altitude of 20 km. The signal will be transmitted in the millimeter range. And since such "pseudo-satellites" are powered by solar panels, their flight can last for months.

Will the company manage to bring its idea to life on the second attempt, it will be known soon. But, it is worth noting that the solution to this problem is not only on Facebook. Elon Musk also intends to implement an ambitious ubiquitous satellite Internet project, for the implementation of which it is planned to attract $ 500 million of investments.
