Russia will redo the "Union" for a flight to the moon

2
It seems that the Russian Federation is determined to take part in the "moon relay". On the eve of the resumption of flights, Dmitry Rogozin said in an interview. He confirmed that Roscosmos plans to send the first spacecraft to the moon already in 2021.

For this, the corporation intends to modernize the legendary "Union". It is worth noting that the proposal to create a spacecraft based on the Soviet apparatus has already come from NASA. However, Roscosmos decided to conduct development without the participation of American investors.

Due to the fact that the modified Soyuz-MS will be used for flights to our natural satellite, the designers have to work hard. Development is planned: a new booster block, thermal protection, power supply and life support systems for the ship. In addition, the installation of additional star sensors, engines, oxygen cylinders, as well as the completion of the evaporation system and manual control will be required.

According to preliminary estimates carried out in 2017, the cost of modernization could cost $ 500 million. The truth then was not taken into account the possibility of landing on the moon. Therefore, the cost of the project is likely to increase significantly.

The development of the lunar transport system is already actively being carried out by Roscosmos and RSC Energia. According to the information received, the launch of the finished device will be carried out from the orbit of the ISS.

As long as our people die more than they are born, we do not need this moon! Need to think more about people, or don’t know how to cut the budget?
