The resurgence of “Buran” could be a response to the “star wars” of the United States

7
Donald Trump decided to make the inhabitants of the Earth happy with a “grandiose idea”: by his decision, the United States of America will create a new kind of troops. The American president decided to add space forces to the world's largest navy, the most advanced in terms of land and air forces. Obviously, inspired by watching the next episode of Star Wars, the occupant of the Oval Office in the White House decided:

My new national space strategy recognizes that action can take place in outer space, just like on land, in air and in water

Of course, today we are not talking about space battles of the imperial dreadnought against the cruisers of the enemies of the “empire of light". But existing now military space Technology enable the United States of America to turn the low Earth orbit into a source of continuous mortal danger.

Closing the program of manned launches of the “shuttles” and allowing Roscosmos to play the role of a space cab, Washington invested heavily in a project of guided space drones. We are talking about a real-world spacecraft X-37B.

Developed by the American Boeing Corporation, the X-37V can be in orbit for years, receiving energy from solar panels, which, if necessary, can be deployed in orbit. The spacecraft is able to quickly maneuver, change orbits, pursue and catch up. An unmanned spacecraft can put American spy satellites into orbits, according to experts, it can destroy enemy satellites and other orbital targets if necessary. In fact, we are talking about an almost perfect future space interceptor, capable of clearing the Earth’s orbit. It is assumed that in the future, similar space drones will be able to launch irresistible missile bomb strikes from near-Earth orbit against the enemies of the United States of America.

All information on the X-37B project is strictly classified. The American General William Shelton, who heads the US Air Force Space Command, so sparingly comments on the tests of the mysterious apparatus:

There are good reasons to keep silent for as long as possible.

Countries that fear reckoning as "enemies of the United States," with all the ensuing consequences, are protesting against the further militarization of outer space. The fact that the People's Republic of China began work on its own combat space drones was described earlier here.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin made a meaningful comment on the initiative of President Donald Trump:

If this statement means placing weapons in space, then the United States opens the Pandora’s box

It should be remembered that during the Soviet Union, the reusable spacecraft Buran was created and successfully tested, taking off and landing in automatic mode back in 1988. "Buran" could be used for both peaceful and military purposes.

However, in 1990, work on this space program was suspended, and in 1993 - stopped. In 2002, under mysterious circumstances, the only Buran that was in space was destroyed when the roof of the assembly and test building collapsed on it.

The reincarnation of the Buran project in an updated form (of the X-37V type) will be the most appropriate response to the militaristic manners of the seen "space operas" of Donald Trump.

The revival of Buran is a very expensive program. After all, everything needs to start practically from scratch.
There was a cosmodrome for heavy rockets in Kazakhstan, an aircraft for the transport of "Buran" "Mriya" in Ukraine, research institutes in the Baltic States. Reviving the TU 160, a new engine had to be developed. After 25 years, avionics are completely different.
If the revival of wide-body passenger aircraft in Russia is not underway, then the Buran project will not be able to pull off. And with a space drone, the United States may have simpler solutions, as at one time they did not bother about "Star Wars", but decided that it would be easier and cheaper to launch a couple of boxes of dowels into orbit of American satellites. Although now there are probably more technological answers.

Do not pull? But what about getting up from your knees? What have you been doing for the past 18 years?
Need a spaceport? Build your own, suitable. Be friends with the Kazakhs.
Need Mriya? Return Ukraine, there is still a lot of useful things left.
Institutions in the Baltic States? The main thing is people, give good salaries, they will come to work.
How to chat, so we are a superpower. As a specific task, so immediately a bunch of unsolvable problems and a bucket of nails, yeah.

It would be nice to revive the Buran. But IMHO Spiral will be better and more technologically advanced.

The Buran-Energia program was costly! And in materials, and in electronics, and in technologies, and even in design development and technical documentation! But now it's in the past. The time has come for other opportunities. The Pentagon can make several space drones, so what? It is much cheaper to destroy them! So why do we need "Buran"? We must deal with pressing problems and solve the necessary tasks, and there are a lot of them !!!

In your opinion, the Russian Federation needs to close its space programs? The impression of a comment arises.

Don’t get so excited, it’s a pity your nerves! There is still no concrete task, the author has laid out the article and his view of things and that’s all !!! There is no reference to what official authorities think in the same way, so it's too early to pound in the market ...

I think Lozino-Lozinsky's "Spiral" would be suitable for these purposes.
