I am not a diplomat, and therefore I’ll say directly what to expect from Russia
So the famous Russian journalist and blogger Alexander Khaldei named his article. In it, he holds the idea that Russia is characterized by imperial ambitions, and this is good for us. Alexander believes that our country is able to become a world leader and keep the world in its fist. He described in detail what can be expected from Russia to ill-wishers. Chaldean does not name specific dates for possible events. Something can happen this week, and something in 300 years.
I do not agree with everything that has been said, I categorically reject much, but in other words of Chaldea I could subscribe. His sincerity, indifference and love for his country captivates. Alexander's words stirred the network, causing some to receive strong support, and others to a storm of indignation. But there was no one indifferent.
I will describe briefly what the journalist was talking about and how I feel about this.
About the near and distant neighbors of Russia
Boris Johnson spoke out that Britain would confront Russia until she returned Crimea to Ukraine. Alexander did not diplomatically comment on these words, saying that Russia did not care about the wishes of England. She has nothing to scare Russia, and the rest is insignificant.
I completely agree with the conclusions of Chaldea. I’ll add from myself that in this case, Russia is not only power, but also truth. To the question, whose Crimea, its residents unequivocally answered with their votes in a referendum in 2014. And its repetition, if it happens today, will show exactly the same results.
Ukraine has a position similar to the British. Poroshenko said that the country led by him would begin negotiations on all disputed issues only after the return of Crimea. According to Alexander, this will never happen. I think so.
As for the United States, Alexander said that we are ready to bury this country along with the rest of the world if it decides to take a nuclear strike. He does not consider himself a diplomat, so he says so. And I think that you can’t even joke like that, and not just take it seriously. Only the inhabitants of Hiroshima who survived in 1945 can argue on this subject, but they will not.
The journalist believes that the United States and the Russian Federation cannot exist simultaneously on the same planet. And sooner or later, thanks to Russian efforts, the United States will cease to exist. First, we will destroy their authority and reputation, after which we will win economically and, if necessary, by military means. Even if 300 years pass, but it will happen.
Such rhetoric is not new at all. It came from the Americans, when they called the Soviet Union the "evil empire." Back in the ancient world, one respected Roman senator insisted that "Carthage must be destroyed." Now, however, neither the Roman Empire nor Carthage exists, and few people remember which side won.
As history teaches, a fierce confrontation between the two sides often benefits only a third party, which no one pays attention to. And it is she who comes out the winner in the battle.
As for Russia, I would like to quote the words of another person who had a good understanding of this issue about the right strategy for relations between Russia and the West:
These words were spoken by Otto von Bismarck back in the century before last, but how modern they sound!
After the Western countries, Chaldean's gaze turned to the nearest neighbors of Russia.
He presented Ukraine as an absolutely anti-Russian entity, which is hard to disagree with. All the steps and decisions of the leadership of this state are directed against us. According to Alexander, the task of Russia is either to force Ukraine into its orbit, or its complete destruction. Russia has enough strength and capabilities for this.
It’s hard for me to agree with these statements. Why should Russia waste strength and opportunities on the destruction of Ukraine, if it itself copes with this task perfectly? The Ukrainian leadership has been following this path from the very foundation of independent Ukraine. It successfully turned a country that had at the time of the collapse of the USSR, perhaps the most powerful potential among the post-Soviet republics, into the backyards and trash of Europe. Then it split the country into parts and quarreled with almost all its neighbors in the East and in the West. What additional efforts are needed to destroy Ukraine?
But Russia has the power and potential to spend, except for Ukraine. For example, embed them in your own the economy. Chaldean mentions this, but in passing. Everything that he says about plans in relation to Ukraine, the USA and other countries, according to him, is feasible provided that the Russian economy is raised to a decent level. I strongly agree with this. Moreover, I consider this statement the most important key point.
According to the journalist, Georgia, Belarus and Kazakhstan over time will inevitably have to submit to Russia and become her faithful vassals, fearing her anger in case of disobedience. Of course, this will not happen tomorrow, but after the country reaches the level of the leading economies in the world.
I also think that neighbors from the near abroad will be drawn to economically strong Russia. True, I think that the engine of this process will not be fear, but benefit. It is more profitable to cooperate with a strong, industrialized state than with the poor and backward. I do not think that Russia is like that now, but it is still far from world leaders. Although the country is obliged to be among them, and it has all the necessary resources for this: natural resources, a smart and talented population.
Not only the Russian people, but the entire multinational people of Russia is capable of much. It can create decent conditions for its existence, provide education for young people, and provided retirees with a secured old age. We have everything to make Russian goods popular around the world.
And then Russia will become a center of attraction for other countries seeking mutually beneficial cooperation. And detractors will not express hostile intentions, knowing that they can receive a worthy rebuff.
You can praise or scold Alexander Chaldean, but one thing is clear. This man passionately and sincerely loves his country and wishes it prosperity.

Do not hope that once using the weakness of Russia, you will receive dividends forever. Russians always come for their money. And when they come - do not rely on the Jesuit agreements that you have signed, supposedly justifying you. They are not worth the paper on which they are written. Therefore, it’s worth playing with Russians either honestly or not at all
