The Pentagon will create "unkillable" soldiers

The Pentagon Office of Advanced Research Projects, also known as DAPRA, begins unique development. Created during the Cold War years, the department invests about $ 3 billion annually in order to maintain the superiority of the military of technologies United States of America.

Using molecular biology, DAPRA decided to increase survival rates among heavily wounded US troops. According to the idea of American military scientists, it is possible to slow down the speed of processes inside biosystems after receiving a serious wound on the battlefield. The new American project is called Biostasis.

DAPRA is investigating the ability of the human body to selectively "stop processes" at the protein level. The main problem facing the researchers is that the processes in the body of an American soldier will have to "slow down" and "recover" harmoniously. Disruptions in returning to the normal "speed" of processes can be detrimental to US servicemen.

Despite the fantastic nature of the idea, nature knows existing analogues. Tiny invertebrates tardigrades (tardigrada) can exist for a long time without nutrients, at a huge depth of the ocean or even in a vacuum. They are not afraid of temperature differences from -272 to +150 °C. And some species of frogs are able to slow down their metabolism to almost zero during weather anomalies, thereby achieving a state of cryptobiosis.

It is obvious that if successful, the DAPRA developments will be able to change the world, finding application in the field of civil medicine and astronautics.
