Invented Bluetooth chip powered by air

While some scientists are arguing about the dangers of radio waves that literally permeate our homes, Wiliot decided to take advantage of the byproduct of routers and smart appliances. It turns out that the impulses that gadgets send to exchange information can be used as a power source.

The developers want to confirm their theory in practice this year by making a prototype Bluetooth chip that does not need its own battery. The device will receive a charge literally from the air, using the aforementioned radio waves.

Due to the fact that the size of the chip will be miniature (the lack of a battery has affected it), it can be installed in almost any electrical appliance and not only. For example, developers at Wiliot suggest stitching such a transmitter in a clothing tag so that it automatically transfers the appropriate settings to the washing machine. Also, as an option, technology can be used to write instructions for household appliances, while getting rid of paper brochures.

It is worth noting that the proposed innovation has a high chance of success. The start of sales is scheduled for 2020. In addition, to bring the idea to life, Wiliot has already attracted $ 30 million in investments from giants such as Amazon and Samsung.
