Why do Germans dislike Russians?
When the Soviet Union collapsed and the Iron Curtain collapsed, a stream of our compatriots poured abroad. For the first time after a long break, the world saw a Russian man, stunned by unexpectedly emerging opportunities and new experiences. Some of these people were subjects who suddenly became rich in a criminal or semi-criminal way, who considered themselves to be the real cream of society. Others went abroad almost penniless in the hope of somehow arranging their future.
Thanks to this first wave, a negative opinion was formed about Russians abroad. Although now Russians traveling abroad are difficult to distinguish from guests from other countries, the legend of the unbridled behavior of Russian tourists is still alive. This image is “helped” by our compatriots who do not always behave properly abroad.
This is confirmed by the German edition of Die Welt, which conducted a survey among its readers. His theme was the attitude of the Germans towards Russian tourists. Most of all our people there are not loved for their excessive addiction to alcohol. Indeed, quite often Russians think that “having a good rest” and “drinking a lot” are one and the same thing. The result is noisy parties and brawls.
I don’t know, maybe the Germans prefer the noisy and non-drinking Arabs, who create much more serious problems?
The German film “Vacation of Mr. Gadzhiev” tells about Russian tourists about a cheerful Russian couple on vacation in Turkish Antalya. Actually, despite some negative points, the plot turned out to be friendly and ironic. Moreover, the irony is directed not only at the Russians, but also at the Germans and Turks. But the truth goes through the whole film with a red line that the Russians in Antalya drink and walk a lot until the morning, and the Germans who are vacationing there suffer from this.
The Turks working in the resorts have a hard time, but they are only glad for the Russians who spend their hard-earned money here, thereby raising the well-being of the Turkish people.
Actually, the attitude of the Germans towards the Russians coming to Germany is also ambiguous. For example, a girl working in a luxury store in Munich said that Russians here are considered the most desirable visitors, because they provided this boutique with the main income.
It is also worth noting that there is no negative attitude towards Russian tourists in countries such as Serbia, Bulgaria or Cuba. Apparently, this is due to the historically established warm relations between Russia and these countries.
As for the inadequate behavior of Russians on vacation abroad, often the Germans or the British behave in exactly the same way, completely different from the Russians.
After all, louts and rowdy do not have a nationality, gender or age. They can be Russians, Germans, Ukrainians, Chechens, Poles - anyone. And normal people, also regardless of nationality, always find a common language and do not create problems for each other.
