Ukrainian steel broke on trump's teeth

Donald Trump’s decision to “show his teeth” to the whole world and introduce duties on the import of steel and aluminum into the United States caused a sharply negative reaction in Europe, China, and Russia. All over the world, the actions of the American president were considered the beginning of a trade war. However, there is a country that, for some reason, decided that its actions by Washington should not be affected. Ukraine, as always, counts on special conditions and an individual approach.

The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv said that Kiev will take all possible measures to ensure that American duties do not affect the import of Ukrainian metallurgical products into the United States. The Ukrainian authorities are counting on the mercy of the United States and actually ask not to finish the Ukrainian the economy duties.

Once the metallurgical industry was one of the most powerful industries in the Ukrainian SSR. After the collapse of the USSR, the situation of Ukrainian metallurgy worsened, however, Ukraine still retains a certain position among the world exporters of steel products.

The introduction of duties on the import of steel and aluminum into the United States worried Europe precisely because it was aimed at creating special conditions for the American steel industry and introducing artificial barriers for cheaper European products. Naturally, Ukrainian goods are also subject to duties, but Kiev still does not believe that Washington could do this with the right satellite. Trump’s actions are driven by economic benefits for the United States, policies Kiev regime - exclusively ideological dreams and dreams of a great friendship with America.

Ukraine and the USA are strategic partners for each other. We have reliable and mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade, defense and investment sectors. I am convinced that this is a weighty argument for the United States to exclude Ukrainian metallurgical products from the protection duties

- says Kubiv.

In fact, all of “soulmates,” “democratic cooperation,” and “partnership for peace,” for Washington, have absolutely no meaning when it comes to economic benefits. The United States of Ukraine is not a good Soviet Union, generously financing any Marxist and people's democratic governments around the world. For American capital, the main and only true value is its profit. Everything else has a right to exist only when it fits into the schemes for obtaining or securing this profit. The notorious “friendship with Ukraine” is no exception.

Of course, the introduction of duties seriously undermined the position of Ukraine as an exporter of metallurgical products, since Kiev seriously counted on the growth of Ukrainian exports to the United States. But too cheap prices for Ukrainian steel left her no other chance but to occupy an honorable place in the US anti-dumping list. Now, Ukrainian officials can only in the pose of the supporter hope that the White House will regret their brainchild and create special conditions for Ukraine. Does such a hope have a chance of success? Time will tell.
