The world's first flexible smartphone goes on sale

Apparently, the CES 2019 exhibition can become not only the most interesting for gadget lovers, but also the most “painful” for the undeniable industry leaders. It turned out that while Samsung announced the release of a flexible smartphone, the little-known Royale company had already managed to present its working version of the device called FlexPai. And maybe for the Korean giant, everything would not be so sad if the new product from the "modest" competitor had not already gone on sale in China.

In addition, it became known that this very FlexPai works on the latest Snapdragon 855. It turns out that the “primacy” of the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is now a big question?

As for the other characteristics, the flexible smartphone, which can withstand up to 200000 bends, has a 7,8-inch diagonal and 2 versions: with 6 or 8 GB of RAM, as well as 128 and 256 GB of internal memory, respectively. The main camera consists of 2 modules: 16 and 20 megapixels, and the “modified” Android 9.0 Pie is used as the OS on FlexPai.

There are some truths to innovations. For example, in the expanded (tablet) state, if you hold the device with one hand, you can notice a slight “sagging” of the display at the bend. Plus, when you fold the device, turning it into a smartphone, software malfunctions occur. When flipping to the back, the application open on the frontal plane of the screen is not displayed. Also in the expanded state there is no blocking function.

In fact, in addition to the “sagging" display, all other shortcomings relate to software and its adaptability. However, the manufacturer said that specialists from Royale are already working on troubleshooting. At the moment, you can buy a device only in China at a price of about $ 1300.
