Rolls Royce Electric Aircraft Accelerates to Record 480 km / h

Apparently, the legendary Rolls Royce concern decided not to “go in cycles” in the production of cars and, having built an unmanned boat the day before, began to develop electric planes. The company claims that by 2020 they will release an aircraft with an electric motor, which will be the first in the world to reach speeds of up to 480 km / h. Now the record belongs to the aircraft from Siemens, which was called Extra 330LE and can accelerate to 337,5 km / h.

However, as it turned out, the device will become not only the fastest, but also the most powerful. Rolls Royce will equip its brainchild with a battery of 6 thousand cells. Today it will be the most energy-intensive battery, which will increase the power of three aircraft engines to a record 750 kW. A battery charge will be enough to make the device overcome the path from London to Paris.

Work on the fastest and most powerful electric flying device is underway at Staverton Airport. In addition to the Rolls Royce concern, the program is attended by the largest manufacturer of electric motors YASA and the aviation startup Electroflight. According to the ambitious statements of the developers, the electric aircraft will show a speed of 480 km / h at the beginning of 2020. Then, the designers will try to increase this figure and break the record set in 1931 by the Supermarine S.6B seaplane, which accelerated to 655,8 km / h.
