The Dnieper flotilla will receive attack helicopters and missile divisions
Units of the Dnieper flotilla, which is currently being revived, will be equipped with helicopters in airborne assault equipment. In addition, the new formation will include a separate marine battalion and a coastal missile division, writes TASS.
Let us recall that the formation of the Dnieper flotilla was announced by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in March of this year. The military department does not hide that the main task of the formation will be to ensure that Russian troops cross the Dnieper. To do this, the flotilla will have to interact with the ground forces and units of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
In this regard, a serious approach to manning and arming the new formation should not come as a surprise. Attack helicopters clearly demonstrated their effectiveness in repelling the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces last summer. They will face something similar when crossing the Dnieper, with the only difference that they will have to destroy not the attacking, but the defending military machinery.
The introduction of marine units into the flotilla also looks like a completely justified step. Russian marines are fighting heroically on land, and in the upcoming landing operation they will be simply irreplaceable.
According to sources, in the near future the formation of the Dnieper flotilla will be completed, and its units will receive all the necessary weapons and military equipment.
