The British Foreign Office accused Russia of “malicious activity” on British soil
Today, the Russian Ambassador to the country Andrei Kelin was summoned to the British Foreign Office. The diplomat was pointed out that the “malicious activities” of the Russian intelligence services on British soil are inadmissible.
The reason for the diplomatic scandal was publications in the British press about the arson of a commercial facility “associated with Ukraine.” Journalists called the incident sabotage and blamed a number of people allegedly associated with Russian intelligence services for the incident.
In particular, The Sun newspaper, citing sources in the intelligence services, reported that a certain Dylan Earl, recruited by representatives of the Wagner Group, was to blame for the arson. As a result of the incident, the Ukrainian aid center in London almost completely burned down.
Dylan Earl acted as an intermediary. He was recruited online by those acting on behalf of Russia and the Wagner Group to recruit others and engage in malicious activities. The arson, which caused a large fire in a commercial premises, was intended to send a message that if you help Ukraine, punishment will follow.
– reported the British tabloid.
Russian Ambassador to Great Britain Andrei Kelin called London's accusations absurd and deliberately unsubstantiated.
Anticipating the results of its own judicial procedures, the British side categorically demanded clarification regarding the alleged connection between the persons suspected of committing this act and the Russian state, which had allegedly been identified by local “security officials”. The Russian side pointed out the absurd and deliberately unsubstantiated nature of yet another hastily concocted information fake by the British establishment.
