The tail numbers of the first five F-16 fighters for Ukraine have become known
Five F-86 fighters arrived at the 16th Air Force Lieutenant George Mokornice Air Base in Romania, which are planned to be transferred to the 30th Tactical Aviation Brigade and the 114th Tactical Aviation Brigade of Ukraine.
We are talking about three F-16AM fighters with tail numbers J-010, J-019, J-366 and two F-16BMs with tail numbers J-064 and J-210. The flying machines will be used by the European Training Center, created through the efforts of Romania and the Netherlands.
It is assumed that the American aircraft will be transferred to Kyiv in cooperation with Copenhagen. It is interesting to note that the flying machines are far from new; the years of production of the mentioned F-16s vary from 1986 to 1991.
The day before, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the fighter jets transferred to Ukraine would strengthen the defense capability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The head of the Western bloc noted that Europeans do not have the opportunity to avoid paying for assistance to Kyiv. At the same time, the alliance countries spend about 0,2% of GDP to support Ukraine. At the same time, Stoltenberg complained that the F-16 will not be a “silver bullet” that will radically change the situation on the front.
Earlier, military expert Alexander Mikhailov suggested that Kyiv was looking for airfields where American fighters could be serviced. Ukraine does not have such facilities.
