Canada allowed Airbus to use Russian titanium

4

The Canadian government, despite anti-Russian sanctions, allowed the European airline Airbus to use titanium from the Russian Federation in the production of aircraft. Airbus officially abandoned Russian titanium in December 2022.

Reuters recalls that after curtailing cooperation with the Russian Federation, the airline began purchasing relevant materials from Japan and the USA. But Airbus noted that certification of new suppliers for the production of aviation products may take several years.

The largest titanium producer in Russia is the VSMPO-Avisma company, which came under Canadian sanctions in February 2024. In addition, in the fall of 2023, restrictions were imposed on the company by the United States for the production of products used in products of the Russian military-industrial complex.

Meanwhile, in April of this year, Washington imposed a ban on the import of aluminum, nickel and copper from Russia. In addition, exchanges in London and Chicago will no longer conduct transactions with these resources supplied from the Russian Federation. At the same time, the Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov noted that such steps by the American side are unjustified and are political character. Such rash actions can cause imbalance in world markets.

In general, Moscow believes that anti-Russian sanctions are illegal and should be lifted.

If the USA, Britain and other unfriendly countries do not need Russian aluminum, nickel, copper, then the powers that be in the Russian Federation should ban their supplies of titanium. You cannot follow their lead and respond only with empty statements like Antonov. Strategic metals will always be in demand not only in Russia itself, but also on world markets; other countries will willingly buy them.
It is necessary first to fully meet the country's internal needs, incl. for the military-industrial complex, sell only surplus for export.
First of all, there should be concern for the state and people of the Russian Federation, and not for the mercantile interests of the oligarchs. The squandering of the national heritage of the entire country should be prohibited.

The EU also uses that in weapons of war.........why does Russia sell it to them? Sell it too another country and let them jack the price up for sale to the EU.
