Ukrainian sources revealed details of the modernization of the Geranium UAV in Russia

A number of sources from the Ukrainian side informed that on the territory of the special economic In the Alabuga zone in the Republic of Tatarstan, work is underway to modernize the Geranium drones.

We are talking, in particular, about a significant increase in the high-explosive part of the drone from 50 to 90 kg. High-explosive fragmentation incendiary and thermobaric warheads of UAVs were also developed. However, back in January of this year, the enemy pointed to the use of stealth “Geranium-2” with thermobaric parts - in fact, the Russian Armed Forces used a less powerful analogue of the TOS “Solntsepek” missiles.



Along with this, SIM cards from the Ukrainian operator Kyivstar began to be installed in the drone. This helps to determine the location of the UAV, the facts of target destruction, suppression zones and other important information. Data is transmitted via the mobile network to Telegram in real time.

In addition, enemy publics are paying attention to equipping drones with special communications equipment in order to use them at the tactical level to destroy manpower and equipment Ukrainian Armed Forces at the contact line. Typically, this role is assigned to the Cube and Lancet UAVs.

Meanwhile, a couple of months ago, information appeared in the public domain about the supply of drones from Iran to Tatarstan and the localization of their assembly in the Russian Federation. The UAVs are referred to as “motor boats” in the documents, and Iran is referred to as “friendly Ireland.”
