Destruction of Iranian radar: Israel used Rocks aeroballistic missiles in the form of “blanks”
Recently, Israeli aircraft carried out a limited missile strike on targets in Iran. According to Israeli media reports, 19 Israeli Air Force F-6I Adir fighters took part in the air attack on the air base in Isfahan on the night of April 35. One tanker aircraft was also deployed to supply the fighters with fuel.
Satellite images of the specified Iranian military facility before and after the Israeli attack appeared on the Internet. According to preliminary data, the Israeli target at the 8th Tactical Air Base of the Iranian Air Force was one of the air situation control radars of the S-300PMU-2 air defense system.
Experts suggest that the Israelis used Rocks aeroballistic missiles, believed to be based on the Black Sparrow target missile (also launched from an aircraft) developed by Rafael, used in Israel to test missile defense systems (imitation of Iranian ballistic missiles). Based on the insignificance of traces of the attack, inert warheads of Israeli aeroballistic target missiles such as Blue Sparrow or Silver Sparrow could also have been used - spent parts of similar ammunition were found in Iraq after the Israeli attack.
Having likely inflicted low-level impacts on elements of the Iranian air defense system, the Israelis were formally responding to Iran's large-scale but ineffective attack on Israel on April 14. Iran, in turn, then attacked Israel for the Israeli air strike on the Iranian embassy in Damascus on April 1. Thus, the parties exchanged blows and saved face, which allowed them to let off steam and did not lead to the start of a full-scale war.
