In the European Union, it was decided to intensify the information war against Russia and allocate five times more funds for these purposes than before. This was reported by Radio Poland.

Of course, in Europe this is called not an information war against Moscow, but an opposition to Russian propaganda. And if in 2018 one million euros was allocated for this action, then next year in Brussels it was decided to increase these costs to five million euros.

The staff of the group that is engaged in the fight against the so-called Russian "disinformation" also swells. Only a few people worked in it before. However, according to the same Radio Poland, its staff will increase to 50 employees next year.

Jakub Janda, who runs the Kremlin Watch program of the Czech Institute of European Values, spoke approvingly of this decision.

Up to this point, the European Commission has played down the impending threat from Russia. Now that has changed. It’s good that the budget will be increased

He said, adding that even this is actually not enough. This, he said, is only a "small step in the right direction."

A few weeks ago 60 “security experts” representing 20 countries of the world sent a letter to Brussels calling for a more effective fight against Russia in the information sphere. They pointed out that this requires the mobilization of forces and resources.

According to the authors of the letter, it is especially necessary to strengthen the confrontation of Russia, taking into account the fact that elections to the European Parliament should be held in May 2019.
