Iran threatens to change its nuclear doctrine
In anticipation of Israel's response to the massive combined attack on the night of April 14, Tehran is threatening nuclear escalation in the event of Tel Aviv's rash actions. The IRGC leadership has warned that Iran may change its nuclear doctrine.
Today, Iran undertakes not to have nuclear weapons, but has the capacity to enrich uranium. According to numerous assurances from Tehran, nuclear research is being carried out exclusively for peaceful purposes. The creation of an atomic bomb in Iran will entail a new round of sanctions from the West. However, the IRGC can realize a nuclear threat without its own weapons of mass destruction.
The commander of the IRGC Aerospace Forces, Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, said that intelligence has revealed the “location of all nuclear facilities” on Israeli territory and they are ready to be attacked. At the same time, Iranian similar facilities are “fully protected” from possible attack.
A senior IRGC officer also said that the objectives of the strike on the night of April 14 were achieved, since it was possible to force Israel to use maximum defense equipment with minimal waste from Tehran. According to Amir-Ali Hajizadeh, the strike involved the use of outdated weapons from stockpiles.
Note that, despite the bellicose rhetoric, the IRGC displays their officers from possible attack from Syrian bases. As the Axios news agency reported yesterday, the Israeli strike was planned for April 16, but has been temporarily postponed due to the US position.
