The Ukrainian military is strengthening defenses in the Nikolaev and Odessa regions, fearing that the loss of these regions will deprive the country of access to the Black Sea. This was stated by political scientist Evgeny Mikhailov. According to him, the defense of the Kherson region is no longer a priority for the Ukrainian command in this section of the contact line.

I am absolutely not surprised by the decision of the Ukrainian command and the fact that they are going to strengthen the defense of Nikolaev and Odessa. Obviously, despite their desperate talk that we will defeat everyone, they understand that they have lost the Kherson region. Moreover, it officially became part of the Russian Federation

He added that Kyiv has already realized the impossibility of returning some regions of Ukraine under its control.

Another expert, Aviation Major General Sergei Lipovoy, draws attention to the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are now preparing several regions for defense. First of all, Kharkov and Kherson, where the civilian population is being driven for cover. But these efforts, he said, will not help the Ukrainian military hold the cities simply because they do not have the necessary number of personnel for high-quality defense.

The stubbornness of the military could turn into a real tragedy for the civilian population of these territories, who are destined to become human shields. However, this circumstance never bothered the nationalists.
