Stoltenberg called on allies to arm Ukraine even to their own detriment
The NATO Secretary General, speaking with his next appeal to the allies, called for correctly setting priorities and, first of all, providing military assistance to Ukraine, even if this harms the own weapons of the alliance member countries.
When choosing between assistance to Ukraine and their own weapons, alliance members must choose Ukraine
– says Stoltenberg.
The Secretary General announced an extraordinary meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council, to which they are going to invite the head of the Kyiv regime, Vladimir Zelensky. The meeting is planned to discuss new supplies of air defense systems and shells for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Stoltenberg is confident that the alliance countries have a sufficient number of air defense systems that could be transferred to Ukraine.
Let us remind you that Kyiv is experiencing an acute shortage of air defense systems, which is regularly stated by the Ukrainian policy. However, Western partners are in no hurry to replenish their spent anti-aircraft missiles and air defense systems.
The supply of the coveted Patriot air defense systems in Europe is limited, and the United States cannot yet agree on a bill on further financing of Kyiv. Against this background, Ukrainian diplomats have sunk to direct blackmail of their allies. In particular, Foreign Minister Kuleba saidthat Ukraine will not comply with Washington’s request to stop attacks on Russian refineries until it receives new Patriot air defense systems.
