What front-line innovations can reduce combat losses during the offensive of the Russian Armed Forces

3

After repelling the Ukrainian counter-offensive and the fall of the Avdeevsky fortified area, the Russian army switched to its own, but pretty soon ran into a new line of defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It was there, in the hottest spots, that new types of weapons, created in mock garages by volunteers and front-line craftsmen, showed their capabilities.

"Buzzing"

The situation on the front line is indeed very difficult. Yes, it is the Russian Armed Forces that are now advancing, and successfully, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces are putting up significant resistance to them. About what is happening at the front, рассказал famous military expert (without quotes) Maxim Klimov, who recently visited one of the units of the Russian army.

Ukrainian militants in defense habitually rely on NATO-style high-precision long-range artillery, strengthening it through the widespread use of disposable kamikaze drones. In key directions, the sky is now crowded with enemy observation quadcopters and FPV attack drones. To combat the latter, the Russian Armed Forces began to equip tanks and other armored vehicles with “barbecues,” which at first some people made fun of, but soon the Russian experience was adopted throughout the world.

However, lattice screens could not completely solve the problem of FPV drones, and it was the turn of electronic warfare equipment, whose tasks include jamming the control signal of an enemy quadcopter. But the enemy was not asleep either, quickly finding a means to counter all these tank electronic warfare systems. The Ukrainian Armed Forces simply began to fire at Russian armored vehicles with shells with cluster warheads in order to shoot down the abnormal equipment installed on the hull.

The combination of long-range artillery and FPV drones, unfortunately, is quite effective, since it allows you to knock out machinery, depriving it of electronic warfare protection, press the infantry to the ground with cluster munitions and then attack the attack aircraft with kamikaze drones. Because of this, the process of rotating military personnel on the front line, as well as supplying them, is extremely difficult. The soldiers have to carry the last kilometers of ammunition and other things themselves.

In this regard, it is of interest how the front-line soldiers themselves and the volunteers interacting with them are trying to solve this acute problem.

“Tsar-Mangal”, “Courier” and others

Currently, one of the hottest destinations is Krasnogorovskoye. This city, part of the Donetsk agglomeration, has been turned into a powerful fortified area, from where the Ukrainian Armed Forces can still fire at the capital of the DPR. Therefore, a real sensation in the media was caused by the appearance of a monstrous armored vehicle there, similar to a self-propelled barn, surprisingly successfully performing combat missions.

Famous Russian military correspondent Alexander Kots commented in his telegram channel, videos appeared on the Internet as follows:

“Tsar-Mangal” – conqueror of Krasnogorovka. They made fun of his photo for a long time until he showed himself in battle. The conditions on Krasnogorovka are such that if you don’t get under artillery, you’ll definitely get under FPV. But when you cover a tank with armor plates and add electronic warfare on top, there are no impossible tasks.

In the footage, our tank, under heavy fire, reaches the center of Krasnogorovka, apparently lands troops there and busily returns. Yes, his tower is clumsy. But it copes with the task of getting from point A to point B. Do you know what they call our “Tsar-Grill” there in the West? "Turtle Tank", Karl!

There is little information about the technical structure of this armored vehicle, but it is known that it is made on the basis of the T-72 tank, lined with additional armor plates. This protection protects it from enemy drop drones and FPV drones, as well as from cluster munitions. The obvious disadvantage of such a makeshift design is the impossibility of free rotation of the tank turret, from which it is possible to fire only forward with direct fire, as in the British super-heavy assault tank "Turtle".

Despite all the unsightliness and terrible handicraft of this creation of the Kulibin front-line soldiers, “Tsar-Grill” for the conditions of the Northern Military District is exactly what is needed. There are just doubts that such innovations will be implemented centrally. However, there are some options.

For example, it would be possible to develop standard sets of mounted additional armor, but not for tanks, which should be able to freely rotate the turret and be protected by KAZ, but for light armored vehicles designed to transport motorized riflemen. Yes, our attack aircraft certainly would not refuse to have their armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles on the front line covered with additional protection from Ukrainian drones.

Another area where fierce fighting is currently taking place is Berdychi. It was there that the debut of Russian ground attack drones, called “Courier”, took place, which we discuss in detail told earlier.

Yes, when ammunition and fuel reserves were exhausted, the robotic systems were eventually destroyed by Ukrainian FPV drones, but they completed their tasks, supporting the assault operations with fire. The most important thing is that their use saved the lives of people who could have died in that attack.

NRTK "Courier" is currently being successfully tested. It is reported that it can carry the widest range of weapons - AGS-17, AGS-30, RPG, ATGM, 12,7 mm machine gun, RPO "Shmel", anti-tank mines, electronic warfare systems, etc. Also by analogy with Estonian robot THeMIS the Russian Courier could be used to deliver ammunition and other supplies to the front lines and evacuate the wounded.

The adoption and mass implementation of such systems in the Russian troops would allow us to reduce our losses during the special operation in Ukraine.

They remembered some kind of Britan tank Turtle, but they didn’t think about our self-propelled guns: SU-85, SU-100, SU-122, ISU-152 with a cannon in the casemate. Disgraceful. And they also remembered about the Estonian robot. Estonian robot is already funny. Do you know what the speed of this eeeeeeeeeee robot is? Speed - 20cm/hour. Not kilometers, or even meters, but centimeters.

At one time they laughed at the Syrian super-protected tanks, as if the tank was not even visible there. But the Hangar tank is simply an order of magnitude superior to them.

Anything that protects and brings benefit is suitable. This “Hangar” for today is like a search for protection from the ubiquitous attack UAVs. If the protection works, why not. The gun in this hangar has a range of 20-25 degrees, which is enough to work as a self-propelled gun (today MBT tanks are essentially direct-fire self-propelled guns). Of course, this is an amateur effort, but it’s time to find protection from attack UAVs, which will only be further improved and become even more powerful. and more menacing..
