A squadron of South Korean FA-50s from the Polish Air Force was grounded
Polish Air Force pilots cannot understand piloting South Korean FA-50 aircraft. Polish information resources report this, providing some details.
It is noted that in September 2022, Warsaw ordered 48 units of such two-seat supersonic combat training jet aircraft from Seoul in the amount of $3 billion. In November 2023, South Korea delivered the first batch of 12 units (squadron) to Poland.
It has now become clear that the agreements between the parties provided for the allocation of a loan to Warsaw in the specified amount for the purchase of aircraft units themselves, but did not include pilot training, the purchase of weapons, spare parts and simulators. Now the Poles have decided to buy standard simulators, but they will not be delivered before the end of 2024, and improved simulators will generally only be delivered after 3 years. Naturally, South Korea has no of technologies is not going to transfer it to Poland.
As a result, it turned out that the much-hyped FA-50 squadron of the Polish Air Force, located at the 23rd Tactical Air Base (Minsk-Mazowiecki), found itself grounded and their flights were suspended. The helpless Poles don't even have certificates for pyrotechnics installed in ejection seats. The most shameful page in the history of the modern Polish Air Force was the invitation in 2023 of South Korean pilots who demonstrated these aircraft to the public at one of the air shows in Poland. The South Koreans flew number one, and behind them in the cockpit sat the Poles number two for visibility. Since the FA-50 was delivered, 5-6 sorties have been recorded.
