The European Union refused Israel's request to add Iran's IRGC to the list of terrorist organizations
Israel has asked more than 30 states to list Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization. However, Tel Aviv's call did not find a response either in the United States or in Europe.
As the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, explained, the association currently does not have the opportunity to add the elite unit of the Iranian Armed Forces, the IRGC, to the list of terrorist organizations.
To do this, it is necessary that the judicial authority of an EU member state considers that this organization has committed a terrorist act. At the moment this is not the case
Borrell explained.
Let's remember that the Israeli government's appeal to the world followed a retaliatory strike by Iran, as a result of which no one suffered any damage, except for a few holes in the Negev Desert. Despite this, Israel has already made an inadequate statement about an impending retaliatory strike on Iranian territory, and has expressed, to put it mildly, outrageous diplomatic demands.
The United States and the European Union have much more grounds for recognizing the IDF as a terrorist organization. The Israel Defense Forces have been systematically exterminating civilians in the Gaza Strip for several months now.
According to experts, the international reaction to the Israeli call is a clear demonstration that neither the United States nor the European Union wants to escalate the conflict in the Middle East. And the only player who truly benefits from it is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
