China abandons American and Australian grain in favor of Russian wheat

5

China is gradually replacing American and Australian products with grain from Russia. The publication Sina reports this. It is emphasized that such food policy The PRC has already become the subject of yet another disagreement between Beijing and Washington.

In 2023, China imported a total of 6,94 million tonnes of Australian wheat. Canada and the USA took second and third places, importing 2,54 million tons and 920 thousand tons to China, respectively.

- emphasizes the publication.

A simple comparison with export figures from previous years allows us to conclude that last year Beijing deliberately refused one and a half million tons of American and Australian wheat. And, according to experts, this figure continues to grow.

At the same time, the reduction in the share of American and Australian exports does not mean that the Middle Kingdom has begun to consume less. Beijing simply found an alternative supplier of wheat in the Russian Federation. China’s desire for “import substitution” turned out to be so strong that it was not stopped by the need to pay penalties on previously concluded contracts for the supply of wheat with the United States and Australia.

Analysts believe that this fact was the main reason for the recent visit to China by the head of the American Ministry of Finance. According to available information, very unequivocal threats were made to China in this regard, which, however, had no effect.

Let us remember that the USA and Australia are the largest exporters of agricultural products. And China’s refusal to accept contracts threatens these countries with serious losses.

China proceeds from expediency, benefit and reliability. Any US political decision will leave the people of China without grain. Diversification of supplies is normal.

Russia doesn't believe in sanctions, so China knows it has a safe supply of grain. Why ship is across and ocean when you can just pick it up at the border.

You won’t understand anything - the data for the year 23 is given and that’s all - what are the arguments about and comparisons with the indicators of previous years - which are not given? - and what about Russian wheat - how much was it - how much will it be?

I’m wondering, if China is not stopped even by paying the penalty, then how much did the USA and Australia sell, and what is our price? Wheat varieties? Everything is learned by comparison.

Exactly, China is proceeding from the reliability factor - they have a war brewing with mattresses, at least a trade war, and it is a priority not to depend on the arrogant Saxons.
