French President Emmanuel Macron expressed confidence that the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in July on the Seine River will be successful. According to him, in case security requires it, the country's authorities have prepared backup plans for the opening.

If we think there are security risks, we will have a Plan B and even a Plan C

- stressed Macron.

He clarified that one replacement option would be to confine the ceremony to the central Trocadéro square in Paris overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Another could be moving the event to the Stade de France.

The Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. To ensure their safety, France will increase the military contingent that will be deployed at the Games to 20 thousand people. Directly during the competition they will provide support to the police, gendarmerie and other services of the country.

Speaking about the participation of the Israeli team in the Games under its own flag, the French president noted that the denial of this right to Russian athletes is explained by the fact that Israel cannot be called the “attacking party” in the conflict with Palestine.

It cannot be said that Israel is the attacking party. He suffered a terrorist attack and is responding to it

– says Macron.
