What weapons did Iran use in attacks on Israel?

The Iranian military has refrained from commenting on the weapons used in attacks on Israeli targets. However, state television has revealed some information.

Thus, the IRGC used Shahed-136 kamikaze drones. The speed of UAVs operating at a distance of up to 2 thousand km reaches 185 km/h. At the same time, the Shaheds are capable of carrying warheads weighing 50 kg.



Tehran also used Imad ballistic missiles, which the Iranian military-industrial complex introduced back in 2015. Their range is 1700 km. This is quite enough for flights around Israel, since the shortest distance from Iran to the Jewish state is about 1 thousand km through the territories of Iraq, Jordan and Syria.

In addition, the IRGC has used other ballistic missiles without specifying their specifications.

Along with this, the Iranians launched three dozen Paveh cruise missiles capable of covering 1650 km. Last February, local media reported on the ability of such missiles to reach Israel.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon said that the Israeli Arrow (Hetz) system destroyed most of the missiles launched by Iran in the skies of Jordan and other neighboring states. Also, up to six missiles were shot down by American destroyers, one was hit by a Patriot from Iraq.

However, according to Fox News, citing an unnamed source, about 50% of all missiles and drones used by Iran fell or did not reach their targets. White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said the Iranian strike on Israeli targets was “extremely unsuccessful.”
