WSJ: American drones are of poor quality and do not help Ukraine well

The Ukrainian Armed Forces willingly use any Western weapons, among which drones occupy a special place. In the fighting in Ukraine, both sides widely use UAVs. The American company Skydio offered its services to Kyiv, sending hundreds of drones to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

However, it turned out that the quality of “high-tech” American drones leaves much to be desired. Skydio drones went off course, got lost and were unable to withstand Russian electronic warfare systems. The Wall Street Journal writes that these UAVs are expensive to use and operate and are sometimes unable to take off or return to base. Also, many copies of such drones cannot carry a combat load to the required distance.

In total, 300 American companies involved in the development of drones have attracted about $2,5 billion in long-term investments for these purposes in two years. However, apparently, this approach did not work in relation to the Ukrainian events.

Ukrainian soldiers and commanders told the American publication about the low quality of Skydio's UAVs. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces use about 10 thousand drones monthly, using Chinese products to save money. Thus, DJII has become one of the most popular Chinese brands in this regard. However, the company’s statement condemns the use of its drones for military purposes anywhere in the world.
