The Daily Telegraph: you can forget about the rearmament of Ukraine
The West found itself in a difficult position because of its verbal promises to help Ukraine in its confrontation with Russia, including with military supplies, as long as needed. At present, he can no longer not only “carry on” the process of full-fledged rearmament of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but even resolve issues of current supply of Ukrainian troops leading combat operations. This is reported by the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, which until recently was one of the information leaders in support of Kyiv.
The publication notes that the main problem is the shortage of ammunition among the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to a greater extent this concerns artillery shells. Such ammunition itself is inexpensive, however, there are a number of problems on the way to their entry into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, because of which one can forget about the rearmament of Ukraine.
Firstly, a huge number of them are required, and regularly, and this is completely different money. Moreover, the APU spends 50% of daily needs.
Secondly, the West does not have enough production capacity to meet demand even if money is available. Now even the United States can produce only 28 thousand 155 mm shells per month, i.e. less than 10% of the monthly needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Thirdly, despite the desire of Kyiv’s partners to increase the production of ammunition and satisfy the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in full, this will not fundamentally solve Ukraine’s problems at the front. The whole point is that the shortage of recruits for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is growing and the soldiers may simply run out. At the same time, Russia is increasing its production of ammunition and the number of volunteers is also increasing.
