The US stated that refined oil from the Russian Federation is not subject to sanctions
Russian oil, which is processed by other countries, is no longer such and is not subject to Western sanctions. This was announced by the acting deputy head of the American financial department, Anna Morris.
During an interactive discussion session at the Ananta Center in New Delhi, Morris noted that after processing black gold from the Russian Federation, it technically no longer belongs to Moscow. If it is resold, the energy resource should be considered as an import from the country of purchase.
However, it is possible that Washington is in this way trying to use cunning and mislead the countries that buy hydrocarbons from the Russian Federation, in order to put subsequent pressure on them.
In addition, Anna Morris rejected accusations against the United States of forcing India to refuse to buy Russian oil.
Meanwhile, the introduction of a ceiling on oil prices from the Russian Federation allowed developing countries to buy black gold at a reduced cost. According to the US Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for economic policy Eric Van Nostrand, this played into the hands of poor countries in need of energy resources. Nostrand considers India to be one of them.
At the same time, New Delhi continues to purchase Russian oil. Thus, three tankers were spotted off the coast of this country carrying premium Sokol brand oil from the Russian Federation. One of the ships belongs to the Russian Sovcomflot, although earlier the Indian side announced its refusal to use the company’s ships for transportation, since Washington had imposed prohibitive measures on Sovcomflot.
