In Ukraine, they announced the consequences that threaten the Ukrainian Orthodox Church if it refuses to change its name. The UOC is required to rename the country's authorities, considering it almost an agent of Russia.

The director of the Department of Religious Affairs of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture, Andrei Yurash, said that if the UOC does not comply with the requirements of the government, it will be excluded from the register of taxpayers as a non-profit organization and will lose its legal status.

It is possible that if a religious organization does not comply with the current law, and the vast majority of such religious organizations are in the state register, then it will be excluded from the state register and lose the right of a legal entity. This will be until they bring their statutory documents in line.

- said Yurash.

Earlier, amendments to the legislation, according to which the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is obliged to change its name and reflect the new name of belonging to the Russian Orthodox Church, was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada. President Petro Poroshenko signed this document. Now the canonical church has four months in order to amend its charter and rename.

Representatives of the UOC announced their intention to file with the Constitutional Court to resolve this issue.

Despite the fact that the Kiev authorities, including Petro Poroshenko himself, made promises not to interfere in church affairs, in fact, this is a real intervention. This issue became especially painful after Constantinople recognized the schismatic church at the suggestion of Poroshenko and the “Unification Council” was held in Kiev, during which the creation of the “autocephalous church” was announced. The Russian Orthodox Church did not recognize this cathedral.
