Bloomberg: Russia is ahead of the entire West in ammunition production
Assistance from the United States and its European allies to Ukraine has decreased, and in this situation the issue of the lack of weapons in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is felt on the contact line, is raised to the fullest. Bloomberg points out that some Ukrainian guns fire only one shot per day in order to save ammunition.
Time is currently on the side of the Russian Federation, and in Kyiv they fear that the Ukrainian side may not withstand the summer offensive of the Russian Armed Forces. Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas also points out the inadmissibility of wasting time when speaking about the importance long-term liabilities on arms supplies to Ukraine.
In addition, the West warns that the Russian military-industrial complex is producing seven times more ammunition than Moscow's adversaries, twice as much as at the end of January 2024. The Estonian Ministry of Defense believes that this year the Russian Federation will produce about 4,5 million ammunition. Also, a certain number of shells will arrive in Russia from Iran and North Korea.
The European Union will be able to produce about 1,4 million ammunition this year and about 2 million in 2025. If favorable for Ukraine political situation in the United States, the Americans will produce 1,2 million shells by the end of next year.
Along with this, in June the result of the Czech initiative to search for weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be visible. However, France and Spain have so far refrained from concrete initiatives under this plan.
At the same time, there is some possibility of unblocking American aid to Ukraine, although many Republicans estimate the feasibility of this scenario to be no more than 50%.
Bloomberg recalls that the Ukrainians are currently busy digging trenches and building barriers. Kyiv is also trying to carry out drone strikes on military and energy facilities on Russian territory. Ukrainians really hope that the situation with ammunition supplies will stabilize at the end of this year and the beginning of next year. Now the main problem of Kyiv is bridging the gap between the production of shells in Russia and in the West.
