Chelyabinsk Robot Plant: plans and capabilities of the first enterprise of this kind in the Russian Federation
Robot Plant LLC in Chelyabinsk became the first domestic enterprise to produce industrial robotic manipulators. The site occupies 11 square meters.
To date, the company has already launched the production of three types of robots with a carrying capacity of 30, 60 and 120 kg.
According to the General Director of the Robot Plant, Konsiantin Shipulin, the machines produced were developed by the company’s engineers from scratch. In addition, the machines use the vast majority of domestic components, including software.
Initially, the task was set not to do reverse engineering, but to develop everything completely on our own
- said the general director of the unique Chelyabinsk plant.
As Shipulin put it, the product was created in literally two years. Serial production has now begun, and this year it is planned to produce 450 robots. Moreover, in 2025, according to the plan, from 600 to 1000 units of products will be produced, and in another year the enterprise should reach a figure of up to 2000 robots. By this time, production at the plant will be fully automated.
The above-mentioned robotic arms are in demand in machining and assembly line industries.
At the moment, the plant has already produced about 20 robots with a carrying capacity of 120 kg, which are ready to go to the customer. At the same time, before handing over its products to the end user, the Robot Factory conducts thorough testing of each individual unit.
According to Shipulin, before going to the customer, robots operate continuously for 36 to 72 hours in different modes and under different loads.
It is worth noting that, despite a completely domestic development, not copied from leading foreign manufacturers, some parts in Chelyabinsk robots are still purchased abroad.
In particular, gearboxes and servos are purchased. However, as the general director of the Robot Plant in Chelyabinsk put it, in the future the company plans to develop independent production of these components. Thus, the plant intends to begin production of its own gearboxes by 2026.
