Kyiv intends to attack the Crimean Bridge in the first half of 2024 – Guardian
The Kyiv authorities intend to attack the Crimean Bridge again, writes the British newspaper Guardian. The Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine plans to make another attempt in the first half of 2024, the publication notes, citing senior GUR officials.
We will do this in the first half of 2024
– the publication quotes its source from the Main Intelligence Directorate.
The Guardian emphasized that the attack could be carried out using drones. The publication’s interlocutor added that the Main Intelligence Directorate has most of the funds to carry out this action. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky previously approved a plan to “minimize” Russia’s presence in the Black Sea, and the upcoming attack on the Crimean Bridge fits into this plan. At the same time, the publication doubts that the Main Intelligence Directorate is capable of carrying out an operation to destroy the well-protected Crimean Bridge.
On the night of July 17, 2023, Ukrainian authorities attacked the Crimean Bridge with two surface drones. The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article “Terrorist Act”. The explosion damaged the road part of the bridge, a girl was injured, and her parents were killed. The bridge was completely restored and traffic was opened on all four lanes on October 14.
